Latest news from Nick and Kendra in Hanoi
kendra and I had our anniversary since i spoke to you last. went out to eat at the nicest resaurant in town. it was great. can't hear the traffic, nice music, red drapes all around (which make you feel very secluded). candle light. rose pettles. it was a lot of fun, but it was 57 bucks, which is a whole lot here. also, maybe we can get a job that pays. we have to take a class for 3 days, and then we can "exchange culture" in an english center, and make about 8$ an hour. it would be nice to shave off some of the costs, then i might have money left over when i come home.
we went to spend the day with another group of volunteers yesterday, and it was horrible. their program is so structured, they only have like 2 hours of free time a day, even though they're all out of college already. they have to ask vietnamese who are 3 years younger or more, if they can go down the street to a cafe. we played different trust and communication games, like feeding someone blindfolded, and then had like 4 hours of down time. i'm very very glad that we're living with a host family and are almost completely free to do what we want.
also, kendra's family is coming to vietnam next week and we will travel a bit. it promises to be much fun.
i love you.
goodbye
