A website to share present and past history, news, pictures and other musings for the children and grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren of Harry & Gert Bollerud
Hey, this is Christine Bollerud, I am the daughter of Hendrik (Halvdon's brother) who lives in San Antonio--so I guess I am a cousin lol. Just a quick note to say that I love the site!
Hey not sure that you were told but your youngest great uncle Hendrik (my dad) passed away Jan 26 after suffering with Parkinson's Disease for 23 years.
It was a cold breezy day but with his wife, friends and his six children, we witnessed a full miltary honor burial with gun salute, Taps being played live and the American Flag folding right in front of our us...I think when that young soldier knelt before my mother and started his "On behalf of the President of the United States..." everyone was just stunned at the emotional impact.
I gave a short eulogy. Now, I'm a professional writer and words come easy but this was the hardest thing I ever wrote.
