Donald M. Bollerud, Evansville, WI (1935 - 2008)

Donald M. Bollerud, 73, passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at home with his family by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Don was born on May 16, 1935, in Whitewater, WI, the son of the late Morrion and Lucile (McMillin) Bollerud. He graduated from Evansville High School in the class of 1953. Don served his country in the U. S. Navy for two years during the Korean War. He married Barbara Johnson on Nov. 21, 1959, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Center Township, Rock County. Don worked at General Motors in Janesville, then he farmed the rest of his life with his dad, and then, his son, Mike, until November 2008, when he was diagnosed with cancer.
Don served on Union Co-op board, serving as president. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Janesville, the American Legion in Orfordville and the V.F.W. Post 6905 in Evansville. He and Barb enjoyed spending a week at Lake Namakagon with friends and relatives every summer and to Largo, Florida every winter. He loved driving his pick-up truck around the country side checking the crops and looking at the scenery.
Don is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara; his daughter, Cindy (Jim) Brzezinski; a son, Mike (Maria Bonnell); grandchildren: Adrian, Amy, and Abby Brzezinski, all of Evansville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Malcolm and Roger.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the Ward Funeral Home in Evansville, with Reverend Wilfred Grieser officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville, with Military Rites by V.F.W. Post 6905. Visitation will be held from 10 a. m. until the time of service.
