Wis & Ill trip
Just a note about our trip to Wis. and Ill. We visited with Stanley, who is looking well and seemed to be in good spirits. Then we stopped to see Bernece. She looks wonderful for 87 years old, and we had a very good visit with her. That night we stayed with Myrna and Larry. They own a mini-farm, with horses and crops. Beautiful area. Stayed up till midnight talking. Then to Ill. where we stayed with a friend of John's sister. While there, a bat got into the house and we had a comedy going on with much waving of towels, brooms, dog going crazy, and trying to corral the beast. We finally managed to get it and put it outside. The lady we were staying with said in her 30 years in that house, she had never seen one. The next day we stayed with John's sister. We had been eating quite a lot, and wanted something light for supper. Well, I ate a bowl of cereal, and then John poured a bowl from the same box. I noticed him looking around and gingerly picking out little dark things from his bowl. He then disappeared into the kitchen. There were bugs in the cereal, and he didn't want to tell me as I had eaten all of mine. That will teach me to not wear my glasses!! I then proceeded to fix a very stiff drink telling myself it was to drown the little suckers. I've never had cereal and a stiff drink before, but it seemed to go quite well at that time. Beautiful trip home throught the Smokey Mountains with all the leaves changing.
