Half Dome - Yosemite

Chris and Vero Make it to the Cables

The Half Dome hike is 15 miles round trip, it starts at 4,000 feet and goes up over 8,000 feet. We camped in Yosemite for a few days and woke up very early to get started on this trip of amazing views. The line you see to the left of our heads is a long line of people using cables to pull themselves up the last several hundred feet of Half Dome. What you can't see in the picture is that to the right and left of the cables are 2,000 foot drop offs. Unfortunately, we got up to the cables later in the day than we had hoped and there was an hour line to get up. We were tired with 7 miles of hiking left.

There were many spectacular views along the way. The one disadvantage of going in the Fall is that the famous waterfalls are rather wimpy. We're going to have to go back in the Spring and get our showers :-)

If you ever get a chance I highly recommend this hike ... just make sure you train for it.

Cheers - Chris and Vero
